Ecotourism and Biodiversity

For the past few years, there has been a growing interest in developing touristic activities that could provide a great variety of recreational options in the region.
However, there is a particular interest in ecotourism that, when is planned adequately and considering the region’s needs, favors the local communities and contributes to the better use of natural resources.
This way, ecotourism and circulation of information on it’s benefits are parallel activities that contribute to promote conservation through visitors and residents. This is why the Ecotourism and Biodiversity Program is created: to achieve better management of tourism in natural areas, to promote activities that are both recreational and educational, to systemize ecotourism projects and programs and to produce information that promotes knowledge about the regional ecosystems and species.

This program focuses on public and private natural areas, achieving an exchange of experiences with other countries and similar organizations that contribute to the conservation of nature. The information generated in PPY projects is added to the information produced in government dependencies and research centers with which the organization has established a link, as well as with informational agencies and editorial houses, in order to generate interpretative and easy-to-spread information.
